Mrs. Marie Salle Kim, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Marie Salle Kim is excited to be a part of
the
Copper Beech community! Before arriving at the Beech, Mrs. Kim
was the Assistant Principal of Hiram W. Dodd Elementary School
in the Allentown School District for the past two years. Prior
to that, she was in New Jersey as the Assistant Principal of the
Learning Community Charter School for three years and as a
Special Education Teacher at McNair Academic High School for
four years.
Mrs. Kim attended the
University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her B.A. in
Philosophy and Religious Studies in just three years and had the
opportunity to study abroad through the Semester at Sea
program. During Semester at Sea, she completed coursework
throughout the 100-day voyage while stopping at ports within the
following countries: Cuba, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, India,
Malaysia, Vietnam, People's Republic of China, and Japan. Mrs.
Kim also has an M.A. in Special Education from New Jersey City
University and an M.Ed. in Education Leadership from Teachers
College, Columbia University.
As a visionary school
leader, Mrs. Kim promotes collaborative action between the
staff, parents, and community to produce continuous
improvements in education. She believes that the best
instruction allows students to engage in their own learning
processes; challenges them to explore beyond the classroom and
become active citizens of the global community; and asks them to
creatively demonstrate what they have learned through art,
music, or technology. As an educator, she understands the
responsibility to not only teach students the content knowledge
but to also teach them how to think critically, problem-solve,
and adapt to the changing world. |
