Our School
Welcome to Highland Elementary School.
We are a
dynamic learning community located approximately five miles
north of Philadelphia in a suburban residential area. Our more
than 400 students come from many socioeconomic levels and
represent our diverse and culturally rich community. Our new
state-of-the-art building opened in 2005 replacing the former
Highland Elementary that had been a mainstay of the Abington
Community since 1924.
With our commitment to
addressing the unique needs of each child, and developing
life-long learners, our school promotes the district motto,
“Excellence is Our Standard.” In the past ten years Highland
Elementary has been recognized three times by the Pennsylvania
Department of Education as a school of Outstanding Achievement.
Through the collaborative efforts of the Abington Administrative
team, highly qualified teachers, support staff, parents,
community and enthusiastic students, Highland has attained
Adequate Yearly Progress for three consecutive years.
As you to browse our web
pages you will see why our child-centered learning environment
is a valued and integral part of the Abington community.
