Construction Resumes on the Abington Senior High School Additions and Renovations Project

Shown here is the new main entrance to Abington Senior High School (entering at the auditorium lobby, adjacent to the administrative and guidance office areas).

While schools in Pennsylvania were closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, after a temporary hiatus, the Governor and Pennsylvania Department of Education gave clearance for critical public school construction projects to continue during the spring — which included the Abington Senior High School Additions and Renovations Project. These operations were given permission to resume as long as decisions appropriately balanced public health and safety, while ensuring the continued safety of critical infrastructure.

In consultation with Abington School District’s project management firm, SiteLogIQ, construction was able to safety resume at Abington Senior High School. The various construction teams working on the project were willing to return and had safety plans in place to do so, as required by the Montgomery County Department of Health. These plans included the submission of a schedule of work, in addition to mitigation measures in order to protect workers and the public.
