staff.7Dr. Kevin Osborne, Principal

Thanks for taking the time to view our site and see some of the great things about Roslyn School.  My name is Dr. Kevin Osborne and I have now worked in Abington School District (ASD) for over 20 years.  Like so many of you, I grew up in this area.  I grew up in Cheltenham, attended McDevitt, and was extremely fortunate after college to get a teaching position in the Abington School District.  Abington is a wonderful community and I am proud to be a principal serving the Abington SD community.  It is every intention of mine to make you feel like having your child attend Roslyn School was the best decision you ever made!

Before becoming principal of Roslyn School I worked in many different roles throughout Abington over the years.  I taught third, fifth, and sixth grades at Willow Hill, Overlook and Rydal.  I also worked in a variety of administrative roles at Willow Hill, Overlook, Copper Beech and Roslyn.  Prior to beginning in Abington, I received a B.S.Ed. from West Chester.  While working here I received a M.Ed. from Penn State and an Ed.D. from Temple.  I stay updated on best practices in education and new trends by being involved with national associations like ASCD and PAEESP.  It is my intention to use the information to help our teachers be the best that they can be.

Roslyn School has become a second home to me.  Often I get people asking if I sleep at school!  It is for the simple reason that I love what I do.  I was fortunate to open the new Roslyn School on its first day in 2007.  Although the building is still relatively new, the Roslyn School community was established in 1926.  Roslyn is a neighborhood school and a great number of our students walk to and from school every day.  Roslyn is a warm and friendly community and it is my intention to make the school community reflect that.  I hope that is the feeling that you and your children have as they enter Roslyn School.

Roslyn School has wonderful students, a committed parent population, amazing teachers and dedicated staff.  I firmly believe that school should be a fun place where everyone enjoys coming to work every day but where people are willing to work hard and smart for the benefit of kids.  High expectations for everyone who enters Roslyn is our norm.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Leslie, and three children.  My oldest was first in first grade when I started as principal of Roslyn and he is now in high school!  I am seeing how time flies, so enjoy every minute with your children!  Many of you already know my kids from the numerous events we have at Roslyn.  As they grow, it is not uncommon to see me cheering for my oldest son while he runs cross-country or go on a hike with him and the boy scouts.  You can also see me on the lacrosse and soccer fields cheering on my daughter and younger son.  More than anywhere else, you will most likely see me buying something at Lowes to fix something around the house.  Please do not hesitate to say hello.  I enjoy being a part of the community and the kids are amazed when they know the principal has a life outside of school!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns.  I look forward to another great school year.
