Math Department

Department Chair: James Rizzuto

The mathematics offerings at Abington Senior High School are part of a continuous sequence that begins in grade seven. The program adopts criteria from the standards as recommended by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Advanced Placement Program provided by the College Board, and the Pennsylvania Academic Standards and State Regulations on Curriculum and Assessment. Applications and the use of technology are integrated into the curricula in all courses. Abington’s program provides a foundation of mathematical ideas and applications. By its emphasis on fundamental concepts and essential skills, this foundation provides solid preparation for the world of work and citizenship, positive mathematical dispositions, and the conceptual basis for further study. Homework is an integral part of achieving success in mathematics and is a minimum requirement in all courses.
