Sofiya Lysenko, 12th grade student at Abington Senior HS,  was on the winning team that won 1st place at PennApps XX Hackathon, held at University of Pennsylvania this past weekend September 6-8, 2019. PennApps XX featured over 240 projects from over 780 college and high school students. Sofiya and her team-mates developed an App, that allowed to quickly detect deep-fake videos on online resources. The problem of deep-fake videos was addressed by former US President Barack Obama last year in the wake of the upcoming elections and possible interference in it as well, including deep-fake technology of creating fake videos/media from existing videos of public figures and politicians online. Sofiya developed the sentiment analysis ML/AI part of the project.’
