ALL STUDENTS: BEFORE 8:00 a.m. ALL STUDENTS must enter the building through Cafeteria A or B and report directly to their first period class. After 8:00 a.m. students must enter the building via the main entrance at the flag pole, be prepared to show your student ID., and report to the Attendance Office in A115 for a late pass.

Service: Hey ASHS! Welcome back! Our service program is up and running once again and we already have many volunteer opportunities and service learning resources for students in grades 9-11 posted on the Service Learning Opportunities web page: https://www.abington.k12.pa.us/resources/service-learning/service-learning-opportunities/ There are many events that need volunteers coming up quickly including the Oktoberfest at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Saturday September 15, Active Day in Chestnut Hill on Sunday the 16th, Cheerleader’s bake sale table at the football game on Friday the 21st is in need of volunteers, and the Strong like Sean Blood drive needs help with childcare on Friday the 21st. On Saturday September 22 the Roslyn Valley Car Show is in need of volunteers in many areas. There are also on-going tutoring opportunities at the Jr. High after school and volunteers needed to help with Tech assistance at Abington Library. There are many other opportunities already listed for the end of September and start of October. Please visit the Service Learning Opportunities Webpage for more information and to sign up.

Chess Club: Are you interested in working with the nationally recognized Abington Senior High chess team? Come build those college applications in room 219 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 to 4 PM. All welcome!

Leo Club: Leo Club’s first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 18th at 2:40 in room 223. All students interested in becoming members should attend. We will have a service opportunity on this day. The meeting will end at 3:30. Thank you!

Attention Fall Sports Athletes: Opt-out is up and running through Friday 11/9. Check the list outside the athletics office for your study hall assignment where you are expected to report for the duration of fall opt-out. See Mrs. P in the Athletics office if you do not appear on the list or have any questions. Weathers
Attention Seniors: Self-nomination forms for this year’s Homecoming Court are available in the Athletic Office or in Ms. Paules’ Office. Homecoming nomination forms are due by Monday, September 25th, 2018. GO GHOSTS! Vaccaro
Senior Release: Attention Seniors—Senior Release forms are now available with your period 8 study hall teacher. Report to your Period 8 Study Hall until your permission form is approved.

Attention Sophomores: All class office self-nomination forms are due TODAY, Friday, September 14th. Any questions please see Mrs. Hansen in S-106 or Mrs. Rizzo in 106.

Attention all students: PE locks are currently on sale in the PE lobby during all lunch periods. School bags are not permitted in class and should be secured in a PE locker so be sure to purchase a lock for $6.00. I repeat, PE locks are on sale for $6.00 during all lunch periods until TODAY, Friday 9/14. See your PE teacher if you have any questions. Weathers

Key Club: Attention all students: the Key Club is looking for volunteers to help guide parents at Back to School Night on Thursday, September 20th from 6:30-9pm. Dress is black bottoms and a white top. Sign-up outside room 117. Peters

Yearbook: Attention all students: The yearbook staff is looking for new staff members to produce the 2019 yearbook. We need photographers, editors, organizers, and leaders to make this the best book possible. Interested students should see Mr. O’Donnell in room S103 to get an application. Again, that’s yearbook. VIBE/IMAGINE: The first VIBE/IMAGINE meeting of the year will be held on Wed. Sept. 26th after school in the audion. All students interested in joining, please meet us there.

MINI-THON: Attention mini-THON captains – there will be a meeting before school at 7:00 on Thursday morning September 20th in the library classroom. We will be talking about the Haunted Hallway and registering for Donor Drive.

ENGINEERING: Are you interested in Engineering, Science and Technology? Then come to room 162 on Tuesday Sept 18th before school from 7:00 to 7:30 to learn more about the Engineering Team and the Society of Women Engineers!

BUILDON: BuildOn will have our first meeting after school on Tuesday, September 18th, in the audion. Anyone interested in joining the club and potentially going on this year’s Trek for Knowledge should attend!

HOMECOMING: Homecoming nomination forms are available now through Sept 26th in A-115. Primary elections will be held September 28th through October 5th. Finalists will then be voted on the following week with the homecoming king/queen being announced at the October 12th homecoming football game. The homecoming dance will be Saturday, October 13th at 7pm in the gym.

Attention Seniors,
Please remember that you have the opportunity to earn free prom tickets through the Claire’s Gourmet Fundraiser. If you did not get one of the fundraising packets, please stop by Room #115 before or after school and ask for one.

Attention Senior Class Officers and Senior Class,
Our first class council meeting of the school year will be Tuesday, Sept. 18th, immediately after school, in room #115. The agenda will include the upcoming Homecoming Dance.

MOCK TRIAL TEAM: Students interested in learning about the Mock Trial Team here at the Senior High School are invited to a meeting on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 after school in room 222.
